Easy Golden Milk

Turmeric is a remarkable herb with many benefits. Among those benefits are properties that help fight inflammation, neutralize free radicals, and even help to fight the symptoms of many chronic diseases. But why am I talking about turmeric? Because turmeric is one of the main ingredients in this delicious warm drink, Golden Milk.

For hundreds of years, golden milk has been an integral part of Indian culture, serving as both a comforting drink and a widely used medicinal remedy. Golden milk taps into the healing powers of turmeric by combining the herb with milk and other ingredients that help to support turmeric’s healing actions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp Coconut Oil

  • 1 ½ tsp ground Turmeric

  • 1/4 tsp ground Ginger (or 1 tsp freshly grated ginger)

  • 1 ½ cups Coconut Milk (or other dairy-free milk)

  • 1 ½ cups Unsweetened Almond Milk

  • 1/4 tsp ground Ashwagandha (optional)

  • 1 whole Cinnamon Stick (or 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon)

  • 3 Cardamom Pods (optional)

  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

  • Honey or Maple Syrup to taste

Directions:

  1. To a small saucepan, add the coconut oil, turmeric, and ginger. Sauté 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.

  2. Add in the remaining ingredients, including the honey, about 1 tsp at a time until the desired sweetness is reached.

  3. Whisk to combine and warm over medium heat. Heat until hot to the touch but not boiling – about 4 minutes – whisking frequently.

  4. Turn off the heat and taste to adjust flavor if needed.
